DALLAS Gary Grief, one of the Texas Lottery officials investigating inflated Lotto Texas jackpot ads, was named lottery commission acting executive director Monday following the resignation of Reagan Greer.

Greer became the fourth Texas Lottery executive director to resign amid controversy when he stepped down Friday, claiming accusations against him were politically motivated.

Grief was promoted from deputy executive director of the Texas Lottery, the nation’s third largest.

Greer last month admitted he approved a staff report proposing an $8 million advertised Lotto Texas jackpot, even though the drawing could only cover $6.5
