TBWA\Chiat\Day has been named lead agency for dotTV, an online source for Web addresses ending in .TV. Billings were estimated at $15-20 million.
The account will be handled out of the shop's Playa del Rey, Calif., office. Print ads tagged "Are you ready for the new Internet?" are already breaking.
"This is a great opportunity to be part of launching the next-generation Internet," said James Vincent, TBWA\C\D group account director, adding that the shop is "committed to helping dotTV in their efforts to build a powerful global brand."
The company announced earlier this year it was forming an online hub for companies interested in using .TV as an Internet address suffix. Companies that have registered .TV domain names include Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Columbia TriStar International Television, Sega and Zee TV.
Rob Kostich, client marketing director, said the agency "will ensure a strong brand message is delivered."
Meantime, the agency's San Francisco office added a new client of its own, Align Technology, worth roughly $25 million in billings. The Sunnyvale, Calif., company has developed an orthodontic procedure that allows adults to straighten their teeth without wire braces. The company claims it will be the first large ad campaign ever for an orthodontic product.
"We are extremely pleased to join hands with such an extraordinary industry leader as TBWA\Chiat\Day ... and look forward to developing a meaningful business partnership that will produce a memorable campaign," said Kelsey Wirth, president and co-founder of Align.
