Talks continued until the early hours of Wednesday morning after the midnight contract expiration deadline as sources indicated that both the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers were moving closer to an agreement over a new labor contract.

Shortly after midnight, spokeswomen for the WGA and AMPTP delivered a joint statement: “At this hour the talks are continuing. We are working very hard to reach an agreement.” The spokeswomen said no decision had been made about formally extending the negotiating period, and they stressed the talks are continuing.
