Janet Discant, the star of LoJack's latest radio campaign, knows stolen cars.
Car thieves in Miami, where Discant, 80, is a regular on the ballroom dancing scene, have helped themselves to Discant's 1991 Honda Accord nine times in recent years. Each time, the vehicle has been returned, thanks to the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.
"I've had this car for the past six years and it's been stolen nine times, always from the same parking lot," Discant (shown here) says in a radio spot now breaking across the U.S. "What can I say I don't let it bother me anymore. I just go out and call the police Because of LoJack, I got my car back the same day or the next day."
Greenberg Seronick O'Leary & Partners in Boston handles the LoJack account and fashioned the execution featuring Discant.
"You couldn't make this story up if you tried. We couldn't believe it when the Miami police told us this story," said LoJack official Kevin Mullins.
The topper: Discant claims to be the granddaughter of a "Mafioso don" and the sister of two New York City cops.
