A Labor Department report showing a drop in unemployment in August (to 4.7 percent from 4.8 percent) eased late summer fears that the economy would falter into recession as it slowed down. The report sent stocks higher for the week, with the Dow closing at 11,464.15, up 1.6 percent. The Nasdaq finished up 2.5 percent at 2,193.16. Ad stocks also gained. Omnicom increased 1.7 percent to close at 88.78. WPP closed at 61.42, up 4 percent.
