LOS ANGELES Skip Sullivan, president and chief operating officer of independent davidandgoliath, said he is leaving the agency he co-founded, effective at the end of this month.
"Two years ago, my wife started an apparel company [Tristen C.], and she's six-months pregnant with our third child now, so I'm going to help her expand her company," said Sullivan. "I love to build companies. The company is on the verge of exploding, with the line being picked up by Fred Segal, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's."
"Needless to say, Skip and I prevailed on many fronts over the past five years," said David Angelo, chairman and chief creative officer. "His decision for leaving is not only [about] lifestyle, but it's admirable and I wish him well."
Angelo said at this time there are no plans to replace Sullivan.
Sullivan started the agency with Angelo in 1999. Sullivan had been with Team One, where he worked for 12 years and helped launch the Lexus in the U.S. He began his career at Young & Rubicam in 1981, both in Los Angeles and New York, where one of the accounts he worked on was the Jonathan Martin clothing line.
The Los Angeles shop recently defended its largest account, the $270 million Kia Motors America business [Adweek Online, Dec. 14], which kept Sullivan at the agency.
Davidandgoliath's other clients include Universal Orlando Resort, Bacardi, Outback Steakhouse, Papa Murphy's, Palms Resort Casino, L.A. Gear and Re/Max International.
