DALLAS Sugar Film Production has broken ground on a $4 million, 16,000-square-foot facility designed to expand capacity and make post-production work more economical, the company said.
The new facility joins a growing hub of commercial film production in Dallas' Uptown district. SFP's existing studios are nearby.
Founded in 2001 by director Chris Smith and executive producer Tony Miglini, SFP last year shot 40 commercials for agencies such as The Richards Group, Ornelas and Associates, DDB, Publicis and TM Advertising.
Award-winning director Sarah Pirozek signed on with SFP in March after a two-year search for the right talent, the company said.
"The building of the new headquarters is part of our expansion plan to bring on more directors," Smith said.
The new facility will include two post-production suites, Miglini said.
"For clients looking for an economical post situation when the edit and finishing needs are simple, it makes sense to have these services available when Sugar has produced the spot," he said.
