Forget apple pie on the 4th of July. How about a nice cold American-made brewski instead?

That’s the sentiment behind a promotion from the Institute for Brewing Studies (IBS) celebrating July as “American Beer Month.” Thanks to a relationship with client (and IBS member) Kalamazoo Brewing Company, ad agency Copper landed the task of hyping the celebration with a wacky Web site that includes a series of video spoofs featuring two beer-guzzling heroes, Captain Brew and Microbrew.

The goofy spots, done in conjunction with Hungry Man production in New York, feature the sudsy superheros appearing in unlikely venues, such as disrupting a picnic and intruding on a Dominatrix.

Casting the spots was a snap: By day, Captain Brew is none other than Tom Blandford, mild-mannered Copper copywriter.
