BOSTON Strand Marketing has been hired for communications chores by Pass & Weisz Porsche/Audi and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

For Pass & Weisz in Burlington, Mass., the shop is fashioning print and radio ads, as well as online executions and public relations to help the dealership trumpet the arrival of the Cayenne luxury SUV. Along with touting the new vehicle, Strand's work is designed to promote the dealership's overall customer service and range of merchandise.

For the 200-year-old Portsmouth (N.H.) Shipyard, which counts among its specialties repairing the Navy's nuclear submarine fleet, Strand will design a graphical user interface for the client's Web-based management information system.

"By updating and redesigning our Intranet business systems, the Yard will better compete for business with the private sector and continue to maintain our reputation as a military leader," said Bob Provencher, the client's business operations manager.

The relatively modest account additions are important for the Newburyport, Mass., agency, because they help the small shop continue to diversify its client base and stay competitive on the local level, said David Strand, agency founder and president.

The latest wins also help Strand retain some momentum it began generating late last year when it added assignments from the Wellness Center of Newburyport and Millennial Net, a wireless network specialist in Cambridge, Mass.

The shop opened eight years ago as mainly a technology specialist, but has of late attempted to redefine itself and appeal to a broader range of clients in the tech realm and beyond.
