Stir to Refresh Image of Nelson Paintballs

CHICAGO Paintball manufacturer Nelson Technologies has tapped Stir as its lead advertising agency following a review of undisclosed shops, the client confirmed.

For its first assignment, the Milwaukee agency will develop a new image campaign for the Kingsford, Mich., company, including advertising, public relations and package and logo design. The shop will also launch the company's upcoming Special Forces Series line of paintballs.

"The Nelson family takes great pride in the fact that our company created the first paintball," said Karen Cox, evp of Nelson Technologies, in a statement. "We're looking for Stir to provide us with a fresh, new outlook . . . an integrated approach to the future marketing of our brand as well as communicate the significant history we value."

Originally begun as a paint company serving the forestry market, Charlie Nelson, co-founder of the Nelson Paint Co., developed paintballs as a way to mark trees in hard to reach places.

Annual account billings were undisclosed.
