It took 85 years, but Stella Cheese Co. may finally be on its way to brand awareness, with a new campaign from Romann & Tannenholz/New York. The effort, reminiscent of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, stars a young man who screams 'Stella, Stella' at an illuminated window on New York's West 75th Street. The twist is that he's shouting for Stella brand cheese. 'We just had to increase the name recognition of Stella,' explained agency chairman/creative director Gad Romann.
The tagline is, 'The Italian Cheese People Ask for a Name.'
The R&T spot will begin with airtime in San Francisco this month, before rolling out into other parts of the country.
