NEW YORK – Buyers still aren’t exactly sure what caused the spot market to go a bit haywire in April and May, but whatever it was, it seems to be over. They said markets everywhere have softened somewhat and both coasts are particularly weak. The Midwest remains the bright spot. Save for a flat Chicago, Midwest markets are up. Most markets are doing little business beyond July. Buyers said Detroit might experience a post-July tightening thanks to a mayoral election.
