Secures Vignette's Print, Online Advertising
DALLAS-DDB Needham here has laid claim to the "seven-figure" advertising account of software supplier Vignette Corp. after a three-way shootout.
DDB was selected to handle trade print and online advertising duties for the three-year-old Austin, Texas, company.
The firm went public in February after installing a new management team. Vignette produces software programs designed to facilitate operation of organizations' e-commerce Web sites.
The two other contenders in the review were the new Austin office of TFA/Leo Burnett Technology Group (headquartered in Chicago) and CKS New York.
Jeff Abbott, client director of marketing communications, said this is the first agency hired by Vignette. He noted that the company plans to substantially boost its marketing presence in a category dominated by "homegrown" regional competitors.
"We're selling increasingly into the Fortune 2000," explained Abbott, "so we need to raise awareness of the company and its products."
Abbott cited DDB's marketing work for startup Level 3 Communications, as well as the shop's global resources. (Vignette has offices in Europe and Australia.)
Vignette's software products, Syndication Server and Story Server, provide "Internet relationship management" services to companies that look to build long-term customer loyalty to Web venues. Story Server, for instance, can profile users to better identify their needs and engage customers in additional transactions at the client's Internet site. ƒ
