NEW YORK -- Six contenders have emerged in The Wiz's creative review, sources said. The New York shops include Cliff Freeman and Partners, Fallon, Bates, Hampel/Stefanides, The Concept Farm and The Wolf Group.
Billings were undisclosed, but according to CMR the The Wiz spent about $9 million on measured media for the first quarter and nearly $50 million in 2001.
The Cablevision-owned electronics retail chain commenced the agency search earlier this year shortly after the arrival of Jeffrey Yapp, Cablevision group president of retail, which includes The Wiz and Clearview Cinemas.
In May, The Wiz awarded media planning and buying duties to the team of media agency RJ Palmer and marketing consultancy Schoenfeld & Partners [Adweek, May 28].
