Siemens Wireless Terminals will likely decide this week among three agencies selected as finalists for its $7-10 million advertising account.
Southeast shops Long Haymes Carr of Winston-Salem, N.C., and The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., join the Irving, Texas, office of Ackerman McQueen in the final round after making presentations two weeks ago at Siemens Wireless Terminals headquarters in Richard-son, Texas, according to client advertising manager Brian Renaud. Client officials made office visits to each of the three finalists last week.
Those agencies cut from the client's long list were Publicis/ Bloom in Dallas, McGarrah/Jessee in Austin, Texas, and Euro RSCG Dahlin Smith White in Salt Lake City. Also considered was trade advertising incumbent Wolfe/Doyle, San Francisco, which was not required to present.
Siemens Wireless Terminals launched the review in early September, seeking a shop to brand its first line of PCS digital phone products due this fall.
Each of the final contenders has key ties to the industry: Martin with 360 Communications (formerly Sprint Cellular), Long Haymes Carr with BellSouth Mobility DCS, and Ackerman with Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems and wireless retailers like Cellular World.
Assignments will include consumer, business-to-business and co-op branding work on television, radio and print, plus media, outdoor and promotional duties.
