A pair of Massachusetts agencies are expanding their service offerings in order to stay competitive in the increasingly bleak business climate.

Kelley Habib John Integrated Marketing has opened a customer relationship marketing (CRM) unit, helmed by recently hired evp/managing director Tom Manning. He joins the Boston agency after leading his own consulting group and earlier stints at Digitas and Ernst & Young.

Pierce-Cote Advertising, Osterville, Mass., has launched Pierce Interactive, which will provide consulting, Web-site development, banner ad services and CD-ROMs. Melissa Huggard, the unit's director, had been an interactive marketing specialist at Reebok.

Pierce-Cote started the division "based on frequent requests for proposals, especially from our own client base," said shop president Rebecca Pierce. "As a small agency, it is a natural extension of our services to provide multiple interactive solutions, in addition to tradition advertising."
