If advertising is a game, Van Overbay is rolling straight sevens.
After four years freelancing and launching board games under The Galactic Attic banner, Overbay has returned to Notch/Bradley in Chattanooga, Tenn., as partner and senior creative director.
Even better, his latest creation, Moonshot, was recently named Family Board Game of the Year by Games Magazine.
The award led to a licensing agreement with Claytown Collection, which is expanding the game’s distribution from niche retail outlets like the Smithsonian Institution to mass merchants like Toys “R” Us.
“My concept was to take good aspects from card games kids play today, like Pokemon, and wrap it into history, using pictures from NASA and full of historical information,” Overbay said.
The object is to collect rocket engines, spacecraft and other relevant cards that will enable players to complete a space mission.
