CHICAGO Sears Roebuck and Co. chairman and chief executive officer Alan Lacy will speak to investors Wednesday during Merrill Lynch's 26th annual Global Retailing Leaders' Conference.
The speech to investors comes one week after Lacy met with the Hoffman Estates, Ill., retailer's board of directors, sources said. At that meeting Sears' new chief marketing officer, Janine Bousquette, presented the first "evolution" of Sears' marketing, sources said. A Sears representative would not comment on the board meeting.
It is unclear if Lacy will talk about Sears' marketing initiatives during the Merrill Lynch presentation.
Meanwhile, new work from Young & Rubicam, Chicago, promotes Sears' spring line and does not use the "Sears. Where else?" tagline. Y&R and Sears' other roster agency, Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago, are working on new creative for Sears, the first under Bousquette's watch.
