BOSTON–Carmichael/Lynch of Minneapolis has withdrawn from concurrent reviews being held by Charles Schwab & Co. for a pair of creative assignments budgeted at $75 million combined, sources said. The San Francisco client is still considering Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Miami; The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; TBWA/Chiat/Day,
Playa del Rey, Calif., and San Francisco, sources said.
BBDO, New York, Schwab’s lead agency, may also be pitching. The client wishes to select one shop for each assignment, though awarding both to a single contender is a possibility.
A Doner Lands RealAge.com Account
LOS ANGELES–RealAge.com, San Diego, has selected Doner to handle its $20 million advertising campaign. Doner, Southfield, Mich, bested an undisclosed group of ad agencies for the agency-of-record assignment. The campaign will be launched this spring. The account will be serviced out of Doner’s Newport Beach, Calif., office. RealAge provides personal health assessments over the Internet.
A Tinsley Wins USA Broadcasting
ATLANTA–Barry Diller’s Los Angeles-based
USA Broadcasting has awarded its advertising account to Tinsley Advertising in Miami. Tinsley has also been awarded the ad accounts of Post Newspaper, Palm Beach, Fla., and online vacation-package provider ByeByeNow.com, also Palm Beach. Total billings for all three accounts are estimated at $30 million.
A Townsend Taps Pagliaro
LOS ANGELES–The Townsend Agency, San Diego, has tapped John Pagliaro as senior vice president, general manager of advertising. Pagliaro–former founder and chairman/CEO of Pagliaro/Kuhlman Advertising–will be in charge of advertising and marketing. Pagliaro has worked on accounts such as AT&T, Boeing, Memorex and Siemens.
A Eliberation Clicks on T&O
LOS ANGELES–The T&O Group’s Orange Zone youth- marketing division has been selected to handle the advertising for Internet software developer eLiberation.com. Billings are undisclosed. The Irvine-based shop will develop an integrated campaign focusing on user incentives and single-click access to the Web. The multiphase campaign targets potential users in mass markets. T&O is the Southern Californian partner of Denver-based Worldwide Partners.
A Giant Foods Selects BDS as AOR
LOS ANGELES–Supermarket chain Giant Foods has selected BDS Marketing as its agency of record. Billings were not disclosed. The Irvine, Calif.-based marketing-services firm will handle strategic planning, promotions, advertising and in-store display.
