CHICAGO Omnicom’s DDB said it has promoted Bob Scarpelli to worldwide chief creative officer, a new position at the agency network.

Scarpelli, 52, who since 2000 has been U.S. chief creative officer, will remain chairman of DDB in Chicago. There is no immediate plan to name a successor in the U.S. CCO post.

“For 28 years, Bob has given DDB and its clients some of the most enduring and talked-about advertising in the industry, advertising that has become part of the popular culture,” said DDB global president and CEO Ken Kaess in a statement.
