NEW YORK JWT has expanded the role of executive vice president Marian Salzman to include management of multi-national and global pitches, the WPP Group shop said.

Salzman, who joined the agency last May in the global role of director of strategic content, will now be chief marketing officer, also a global post. She continues to be based in New York and report to worldwide CEO Bob Jeffrey.

The new business duties are in addition to Salzman's previous responsibilities, which include developing and disseminating consumer insights and overseeing corporate communications. Salzman, 45, also is a member of JWT's global executive committee.

"She is reliable, forward-thinking and dedicated to the promotion and growth of JWT," said Jeffrey, in a statement. "I have every confidence that Marian will drive smart, strategic long-term business growth for our company."

Before JWT, Salzman was evp and chief strategy officer at Euro RSCG in New York. Earlier in her career, she co-founded (with Ira Matathia) the Intelligence Factory, a global think tank and trend-spotting unit of WPP's Young & Rubicam.
