NEW YORK Tony Granger, chief creative officer at Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi & Saatchi here, is leaving to become worldwide creative director at WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam, Y&R confirmed.

Y&R today announced the hire internally. Granger is not expected to start until next year, a Y&R representative said. He fills a vacancy left by the December 2006 exit of Michael Patti.

Saatchi declined comment, and Granger could not immediately be reached.

In an internal e-mail revealing the hire, Y&R worldwide CEO Hamish McLennan described Granger as “one of the top creative talents in the business,” adding that he has “built his reputation by creating outstanding work that gets results in the marketplace” and has “earned respect from his industry colleagues for being an inspiring, passionate leader.”
