Rutter Joins Childreach

BOSTON Childreach/Plan has named Bruce Rutter managing director of marketing and communica
tions.

Rutter, 52, is based in the Warwick, R.I., headquarters of the nonprofit group and he succeeds Amy Luz, who has moved to Childreach's office in Washington, D.C., to oversee strategic development.

Rutter has worked for a decade as an independent marketing consultant. He has also held senior posts at Boston agencies Digitas and Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos.

He agreed to take over marketing for Childreach following trips he took last year as a board member. "I went to Bolivia and Uganda to see field programs and was moved" to deepen his involvment with Childreach, which strives to help kids in emerging countries and promotes their rights and interests, he said.

Childreach will continue to work with Newport Creative in Duxbury, Mass., on direct mail efforts and no agency searches are planned, he said. Some direct TV efforts may roll out next year, but those chores will be assigned on a project basis, he said.
