The Dow Jones Industrial Average topped 10,000 for the first time in 18 months midweek and continued to hover there through Friday. During the past year, the Dow has been up 22 percent over the S&P Index, with ad-agency holding-company stock at 21 percent versus the S&P, said Jason Helfstein, an analyst at CIBC World Markets in New York. Helfstein said, however, that “ad stocks are still underperforming groups like restaurants and retail; [restaurants] are up 51 percent, and retail is up 35 percent.”
