NEW YORK David Rolfe has joined MDC Partners' Crispin Porter + Bogusky as vp, director of integrated production.
Rolfe starts today at the Miami-based agency's Boulder, Colo., office, reporting to CCO Alex Bogusky.
Rolfe fills the position left vacant when Rupert Samuel departed in May take time off.
"The first thing he's going to do is figure out how to reorder the department," said Bogusky. "We've got some people who have been stepping up since Rupert left and we want to make sure they get recognized."
Rolfe returns to Crispin after spending the last two years as director of content production at DDB in Chicago. While there, he worked on tul.com, an OfficeMax microsite, and Bud.TV's long-form content including The Joe Buck Show.
In his first stint at Crispin from 1999-2005, he was a producer on campaigns for American Legacy, Ikea and Mini Counterfeit. "He's one of those people who leaves—but they never really leave," said Bogusky. "There are certain people who are always welcome back."
"The notion of a producer has a much broader connotation in our business than it ever did. Alex and the culture at Crispin are always sensitive to how things get made," said Rolfe. "It pushes the overall notion of what a producer can bring to the table."
Rolfe, 38, began his career as an independent filmmaker and wine seller. "I combined my production knowledge with my wine knowledge and that worked well," he said. His first agency job was as a broadcast producer at HMS Partners in Miami, where he worked on Carnival Cruise Lines and the Florida Lottery.
