ATLANTA The American Express Championship has tapped the Robin Shepherd Group to handle its marketing account.
Todd Rhinehart, executive director for the event, said the Atlanta agency was chosen because of its growing branding experience within the professional golf community.
RSG has handled public relations and advertising for the Players Championship, the PGA Tour, the World Golf Hall of Fame and the World Golf Village.
For the American Express event, RSG will develop a creative strategy that promotes the championship to corporate hospitality clients and individual golf fans.
The tournament will be held at the Capital City Club in Atlanta, on the facility's new Crabapple course, Sept. 30-Oct. 5.
RSG's campaign will launch this spring. Billings are undisclosed.
