The Republik has recruited David Smith as creative director.

Smith, 37, was previously a creative director and senior partner at J. Walter Thompson in New York, where he worked on the Bermuda Department of Tourism, Lipton Brisk, Smirnoff Ice and Hall’s cough drops accounts under group creative director J.J. Jordan.

Smith, who led JWT’s successful pitch against 32 competing agencies for the Bermuda Tourism business, was fired from that agency in 2001 when chief creative officer Mike Campbell arrived from BBDO.
