ATLANTA Dwayne Fry has joined The Republik as chief strategic officer, a new position, the shop said.
Fry, 46, also will sit on the independent Durham, N.C., agency's executive committee with the shop's CEO, Robert Shaw West, and its creative director, David Smith.
Before Fry joined Republik, West served as chief strategic officer. West said he had been searching for someone to take the position for almost two years.
Fry will be responsible for developing the shop's management plans and its clients' marketing strategies. He also will help coordinate pitches for new business, he said. He reports to West.
Previously, Fry ran his own shop, Front Door, in Durham from 1998 until last year. Before that, he was with Havas' McKinney + Silver in Durham for 10 years as vice president and management supervisor, working on accounts such as Royal Caribbean, Ben & Jerry's and Bacardi.
"He has big agency skills, an entrepreneur's spirit and enormous breadth," West said. "This is the next step for us and it's a big one."
