BOSTON Mintz & Hoke said it has been hired by the American Red Cross to provide media planning and buying services for the client’s Connecticut region.

The budget for the independent shop in Avon, Conn., was not disclosed.

The agency’s Media Only unit will work with radio, newspaper and outdoor media to plan ways to spur more blood donations during 2004.

As the Red Cross needs to collect roughly 600 units of blood daily to meet statewide patient demand, efforts will be stepped up during the summer, when supplies often drop, the agency said.
