Red Cell Hires Walsh for Europe

NEW YORK WPP Group's Red Cell has hired Amanda Walsh as CEO of its European operations, effective May 1, the company said.

Walsh will be based in Red Cell's London office and will report to Red Cell worldwide chairman and CEO Andy Berlin, who is based in New York at Berlin Cameron/Red Cell.

In a statement, Berlin said, "Red Cell has committed to significant expansion in Europe, so experienced leadership is crucial to our success. Amanda's very special presence, her experience with clients and as a manager will ensure that our client-facing offer is on the mark. She is both an entrepreneur and someone who cares deeply about the brilliance and originality of the creative product, which after all, is what we're about."

Walsh, 45, was most recently CEO of London agency Walsh Trott Chick Smith, which she helped found in 1995.

In addition, Red Cell tapped Roberto Bergantino as its European CFO. Bergantino has held various posts within parent company WPP. In his new role, he will report to Red Cell global COO Laurence Mellman.

Red Cell is comprised of 60 agencies in 35 markets. Its clients include Coca-Cola, Diageo, Alfa Romeo, Nextel, Nike, Pfizer, Unilever and Hewlett-Packard.
