Seattle’s RealNetworks now offers broadcasters the choice of streaming their terrestrial radio ads into programs hosted by Real on the RealPlayer or replacing them with Internet-only ads.

This arrangement can save broadcasters money because regulations passed last year make advertisers’ fees higher for spots originally designated for offline radio if they’re used online. The offering is part of Real’s Radio Business Applications, a group of services that debuted last year.

RealNetworks delivers content via more than 33 channels on its RealPlayer to more than 200 million registered users, and also provides technology tools such as RBA to help with the delivery of the content.
