RBC Financial Assigns Creative to BBDO

NEW YORK Omnicom Group's BBDO has landed creative duties in Canada for RBC Financial Group, effective Jan. 1, the client said.

In a statement, Gord Kerr, director of advertising at the Toronto client, said: "After an extensive and productive review process, we selected BBDO as we believe they are the best fit for RBC's needs and have the ability to deliver the national advertising needed to support our evolving brand and emerging priorities. The outstanding quality and efforts of all the agencies made our final decision that much more difficult."

BBDO in Toronto beat out WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson for the estimated $20 million account,

Independent shop Doner of Southfield, Mich., withdrew from an earlier round of the process to concentrate on other new business, while Omnicom's TBWA\Chiat\Day, Toronto, had been cut, the client said.

RBC Financial Group is part of the Royal Bank of Canada, that country's largest financial institution in terms of assets.

New York consultancy AAR Partners managed the review.
