Stocks finished the week mixed, as oil prices fell and the federal reserve indicated it was nearing the end of its rate increase cycle. Though the Fed increased interest rates for a 13th straight time on Tuesday, its committee indicated its credit-tightening campaign—which began on June 30, 2004—may be nearing an end. The Dow finished the week up 96.93 points, a gain of nearly 0.9 percent, to close at 10,875.59. The Nasdaq, weighed down by bad news from companies like Apple, Oracle and Microsoft, ended down 11.49 points, a 0.5 percent decline to close at 2,252,48. Advertising stocks all finished the week up, however. Omnicom gained 2 points, to close at 87.82, a 2.3 percent gain. WPP Group closed up 0.7 percent at 55.27, an increase of 0.41 points.
