RARE PAIR MAKES ATLANTA AD NEWS

Yang Yang and Lun Lun, purchased from China by Zoo Atlanta, arrived last week, along with a United Parcel Service
advertising campaign.
UPS delivered the pandas to the zoo under security usually reserved for a presidential visit. More importantly,
the client assigned advertising promoting its panda express to Ames Scullin O'Haire
in Atlanta.
The assignment was a boost for the city's ad community and a coup for the $35 million shop. Like many major Atlanta-based companies, UPS's use
of local agencies is conspicuous by its absence. But the new print and television campaign, with ads running nationally on cable's Discovery Communications' networks, is a
notable change.
There have been rumblings around Atlanta for months that UPS's lead agency, the newly merged Lowe Lintas & Partners in New York, has a tenuous hold on the estimated $65 million account. Does this mean UPS may be thinking seriously about Atlanta as an ad town? We can hardly bear to consider it.
