NEW YORK The International Advertising Festival at Cannes next year will introduce a new category honoring radio advertising, according to a festival representative.
An international jury that will take into account the language differences of entries will judge the Radio Lions, which will be awarded in 2005. As a prelude to introducing the category, the IAF will hold a "How Are Big Brands Learning to Use Radio Effectively?" seminar at this year's festival.
The 51st International Advertising Festival will take place June 20-26 in Cannes, France.
New categories have been introduced to the festival periodically. Cyber Lions were added in 1998 for interactive advertising. In 1999, the Media Lions category debuted, honoring creative use of media, and in 2002, a Lions Direct competition was initiated for direct marketing efforts.
