BOSTON Racepoint Group has been hired by five new clients to handle public relations chores, the agency said.

The Waltham, Mass.-based PR firm, owned by the W2 Group, has been tapped by ContextWeb, iCode, QlikTech, Ropes & Gray and RSS Investors. Combined, the accounts are worth about $1 million in fees.

"We are pleased to announce the addition of these growing businesses, which reflects not only their confidence in the quality of service we deliver, but the healthy development of the markets we serve," said Marijean Lauzier, president of Racepoint Group, in a statement. "Our clients require an agency that is constantly developing innovative approaches to succeed in the rapidly changing technology market. Racepoint is proud to offer an unmatched level of expertise and understanding in establishing these emerging companies as leaders in their space."

Racepoint won each of the accounts following a review involving undisclosed contenders, except RSS Investors, which the agency acquired after project work.

Two-year-old Racepoint specializes in emerging companies in the technology, health and science sectors. Racepoint has worked with a variety of clients including RedHat, Avid Technology and Motorola.
