Rabosky Joins APL, Will Focus On Compaq

Steve Rabosky has been named executive vice president, creative director, worldwide brands, at Ammirati Puris Lintas. He will be based in New York and report to agency chairman, chief executive and chief creative officer Martin Puris. Rabosky, 44, will assume his new post April 20 and focus initially on the global Compaq Computer account.
"Steve is an immensely talented creative director who will play a defining role as we help Compaq build its brand worldwide," Puris said in a statement. Rabosky will be responsible for ensuring that the work for Compaq projects "'one voice, one identity, one company' around the globe."
Rabosky said in a statement that he was "looking forward to this challenging mission."
A former executive creative director and managing partner under Lee Clow at TBWA Chiat/Day in Venice, Calif., Rabosky worked on many of the agency's key accounts in his 13 years there, including Eveready, Sony, L.A. Gear and Unocal.
In February 1997, Rabosky left with seven other TBWA Chiat/Day executives to establish a Los Angeles office of Chicago-based The Leap Partnership. Rabosky was dismissed last November after just nine months at the troubled office, and has been freelancing since then. In December, he teamed with his former TBWA Chiat/Day partner Steve Sweitzer to help Foote, Cone & Belding in its unsuccessful bid to retain its $90 million Levi Strauss & Co. jeans account.
In a related move to staff up the Compaq team, Ammirati has hired Patrick Hanlon, group creative director at Ogilvy & Mather here, as executive vice president, managing director, creative on the computer account.
