Quiksilver DVD Hitches Ride on Shorts

LOS ANGELES Quiksilver Americas said it is upping a direct-marketing play by shipping an additional 700,000 board shorts with a hangtag that includes a company-produced DVD.

The surfer shorts will carry a copy of the nearly half-hour featurette Young Guns II, which “puts Quiksilver’s young, up-and-coming athletes on a pedestal and introduces [them] around the world,” said Jeff Booth, director of marketing at the Huntington Beach, Calif., company.

The DVD includes the mini-movie, in which 12 Quiksilver-sponsored surfers wear “signature” models, as well as bonus material and information on the full line.
