To educate consumers about the pitfalls of lending scams, the Massachusetts Community & Banking Council has unveiled a multimedia campaign tagged “Don’t borrow trouble.”

Developed by recently-formed Push in Somerville, Mass., the effort warns low- and moderate-income homeowners to be aware that lending solicitations they see on TV or receive through the mail may not be as good as advertised and could, in fact, lead to dire consequences.

One print ad shows a doormat that reads, “Tell dishonest lenders they’re not welcome when they push their scams on you.”
