The Salt Lake Organizing Committee has tapped Publicis USA to handle brand advertising, direct mail and promotions for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Billings were undisclosed.

Three promotional spots were scheduled to air on NBC during the Summer Games in Sydney, Australia. The games ended yesterday.

“We selected Publicis because of its creative excellence and its history of exceptional service to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee,” Scott Givens, managing director of the group’s creative team, said in a statement citing the agency’s skills in sports and event marketing.

The award is expected to tap resources from all three of Publicis’ recently formed regional networks: Publicis in New York, Publicis in Mid America (Chicago, Dallas and Indianapolis) and Publicis in the West (Seattle).
