LOS ANGELES Dan Fietsam will join Publicis West as an evp, ecd, titles also held at the shop by Rob Rich.
Fietsam, 41, had most recently been at DDB in Chicago, and he will assume his new Publicis duties Feb. 12. Fietsam will mainly work on the T-Mobile account, teamed with Bob Moore, the Seattle shop's chief creative officer.
Moore said T-Mobile was growing so quickly that additional "firepower" was necessary to "capitalize on all the great opportunities we see for this terrific brand." He cited Fietsam's expertise in branded content, interactive and integrated marketing.
"If you took a look at his portfolio, there is a pattern of interesting online components," Moore noted. "Dan is very comfortable in that area, [which is] where we are going with our engagement strategies. He knows what makes a brand stick."
Fietsam worked on Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light while at DDB, helping to shape several Super Bowl spots. He also served on the Dell business. His background includes years at Young & Rubicam on Sears and Jim Beam, and at Leo Burnett in Chicago on Coca-Cola, Dewars, Nintendo and True Value.
Moore said he especially liked Fietsam's A-B efforts. "He'd done the more witty work. The spots had sophistication, but were accessible. It is really crucial that our senses of humor are calibrated together," Moore said.
"Dan's arrival underscores our commitment to creativity," said Randy Browning, chairman and CEO, in a statement. "Together, Rob and Dan will help us to continue to deliver great work to all of our clients, in every medium, and to break new ground in the digital engagement era."
