BOSTON Publicis Groupe has aligned all of its PR and marketing communica-
tions agencies under the Publicis Public Relations and Corporate Communica-
tions Group (PRCC), the holding company said today.
Louis Capozzi has been named executive chairman of the new entity, which will be headquartered in New York. Most recently, Capozzi was chairman and CEO of Publicis Groupe's Manning, Selvage & Lee in New York. Mark Hass will now assume the role of CEO of MS&L.
PRCC involves about 1,300 staffers across 25 countries. The shops being folded into the group include Manning, Selvage & Lee, Publicis Consultants, Publicis Dialog and Leo Burnett PR, among others. Those agencies now report to Capozzi.
PRCC will fall under the umbrella of Publicis Groupe's Specialized Agencies and Marketing Services. John Farrell is president and CEO of that group.
"Public relations activities are a clear growth opportunity and priority for the holistic offering of the Publicis Groupe," said Farrell in a statement. "The formation of this group and Louis' appointment demonstrates our commitment to strengthening this business and ensuring we invest in and deliver world-class communications capabilities for our clients."
Capozzi said the two reasons for the consolidation were the opportunity that Publicis Groupe sees for growth and the "distinction" the PR business from advertising and promotions.
