Phil Jacobs has joined Publicis in Mid America in the newly created position of executive principal and chief marketing officer.

Jacobs, 47, becomes one of three principals in Publicis’ Dallas office, along with president and general manager Mark Bateman and president of creative Ted Barton.

Jacobs will have primary responsibility for bringing new accounts into the agency.

“Historically the majority of our growth has come from additional assignments with current clients,” Bateman said, “and now there’s going to be more of an emphasis on trying to win new clients.”

“Phil is … a dedicated resource that can focus on growth,” he said.

Jacobs was in charge of DDB Dallas’ new-business efforts for five years, before leaving in 2000 to become vice president of marketing at Data Return.
