The Gap has hired Kristin Petersen in the newly created position of vice president, brand exposure and promotions. She will be responsible for the development of marketing campaigns for the Gap, as well as sibling brands Banana Republic and Old Navy. Prior to joining the Gap in San Francisco, Petersen developed film and video marketing campaigns as senior vice president of national promotions at Universal.
Interpublic Group's Magna Global Entertainment has appointed Sunta Izzicupo as principal, global programming in the company's Los Angeles office. The 20-year national television-programming veteran will be responsible for assisting clients in the creation of marketing platforms and original programming. An independent consultant since 2002, Izzicupo previously served as vice president of CBS Productions.
Aloysius Butler & Clark has named Donna-Marie King director of strategic communications. King, who joined the Wilmington agency in 1998, had been director of public relations. AB&C has also hired Christina Beck and Brian Tharan as designer and production designer, respectively. Beck was a freelance designer for the Philadelphia Art Museum, and Tharan most recently served as assistant creative director at DMD Business Forms in Elsmere, Del.
Ideas has added Nancy Somerville as director of healthcare markets. She will work with the Orlando agency's medical and healthcare clients to design and produce communication projects. For the last five years, Somerville has worked as a producer, writer and story consultant for clients in the medical and healthcare public relations industries.
Modernista! has added Melissa Macaulay as creative resources manager. Macaulay will be responsible for a variety of internal agency functions, including management oversight of the creative workflow process. Prior to joining Modernista! in Boston, Macaulay was at Cramer in Norwood, as an interactive production designer. George Rajkowski has joined Modernista! as a senior proofreader. Rajkowski will work on various accounts. Prior to joining Modernista!, he was a quality control manager at Allen & Gerritsen in Watertown.
BBDO in Minneapolis has hired three new employees to work in its creative, broadcast production and traffic departments. Metin Sozen has joined the shop as an art director. A native of Turkey, Sozen was most recently at OgilvyOne and NetReaction in New York. He worked at BBDO Istanbul from 1997 to 2000. In addition, the agency has designated Tammy Auel director of broadcast production and Tami Dahl traffic coordinator.
Aaron Klein has joined healthcare advertising firm Lanmark Group in Eatontown as production artist. In this position, Klein will create layouts of various marketing materials, advertising campaigns and promotional materials for several of Lanmark's major accounts. Before joining Lanmark, Klein was a graphic artist and writer at BTU, an energy publication based in Red Bank.
Arnold in New York has hired Kate Murphy as group creative director. Murphy will oversee creative for accounts including Hasbro, GlaxoSmithKline, the Bermuda Department of Tourism, McDonald's and the U.S. Tennis Association, as well as work on the agency's new-business efforts. Murphy was most recently with McCann Erickson in New York, where she was a senior vice president, senior creative director and supervised creative for L'Oréal's skin care brands.
Saatchi & Saatchi in New York has hired Lynne Collins as vice president, director of communications. She is responsible for all internal and external communications at the agency. Most recently, Collins was associate director of corporate communications at Deutsch.
Gino Colangelo has progressed from senior vice president to executive vice president at public relations firm Dentsu Communications in New York. Colangelo is responsible for new- business development and creating communications strategies for current clients. He came to Dentsu after spending 10 years on the client side of the communications business with a small retail chain in New Jersey.
Jennings has appointed Kristin Upchurch media director. At the Chapel Hill shop, Upchurch will oversee the development of media plans, budget management and tracking. Upchurch previously was a senior media buyer and planner at French/West/Vaughan in Raleigh. In addition, Judith Smith has joined Jennings as traffic and production manager. She will be responsible for the agency's production log and will process and oversee the distribution of all advertising to the media. Smith arrives from Sinclair/Pepper Advertising in Raleigh, where she was an account executive, media buyer and production manager.
Laura Dorward has been appointed general manager of Local Marketing Corp.'s Cincinnati office. A 16-year veteran of the agency, Dorward was most recently a senior vice president at the shop and has worked on the media planning, promotional development and account management ends of the business. In her new position, she will have day-to-day responsibility over LMC's local marketing operations and its account teams.
Susan Hempel has progressed from controller to vice president of finance at NourzAds Advertising. Hempel, who has been with the Austin agency for a year, will be responsible for the daily operations of the accounting department and the financial management of the business. Prior to joining the shop, she was the assistant finance director at the Jewish Community Association. NourzAds has also hired Prentice Howe as creative director. In his new role, Howe will manage the agency's creative department and the development of client campaigns. He most recently served as senior copywriter at Ignited Minds in Marina del Rey, Calif. In addition, NourzAds has added Bobby Bitner as senior media planner and buyer. He previously worked at TM Advertising in Irving as associate media director on the Subaru and ExxonMobil accounts.
Having successfully completed an internship, Jeney Walter has become a copywriter at Charleston/ Orwig. Prior to joining the Hartland shop, Walter worked as a customer service specialist handling Web development for Absolute Business.
Advertising agency SFGT in Philadelphia has hired Mark Ambrosino as art director, to work on Sunoco, American Education Services and other accounts. Previously, Ambrosino held art director positions at Star Group in Cherry Hill, N.J., Gillespie Advertising in Princeton, N.J., and Earle Palmer Brown in Philadelphia. He has worked on accounts such as Comcast, DuPont, Beneficial Savings Bank and National Constitution Center. SFGT's client roster also includes the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Timberlane, Tylenol, De'Longhi and IFCO Systems.
Kelliher Samets Volk said it has hired Colleen Loeffler as marketing services manager. In this new position, Loeffler will be responsible for business development and marketing for the agency, as well as helping to build existing client relationships. Prior to joining the Burlington, Vt.-based independent, Loeffler spent five years at Goldman Sachs in New York. KSV employs 50 staffers and works for clients such as Chittenden Bank, Sugarbush Resort, Timberpeg and the Vermont Department of Health.
The Marketing Arm has named Bill Glenn vice president of strategic insights and analytics. In this newly created role, Glenn will oversee the Dallas agency's insights and analytics function, optimizing research, consumer insight, analytical tools and proprietary metrics to validate key sponsorship trends. Prior to joining the Omnicom shop, Glenn served as a consultant to Cingular Wireless' corporate Atlanta office, where he led the national sports and entertainment sponsorship group. He is currently an adjunct professor of sponsorship marketing at the University of Dallas.
Springbox has installed Chris Mayfield as interactive designer. Mayfield, who will be leading the agency's art direction, has already completed designs for Safedate, Clear Cube and Stanford Financial. He joins the Austin, Texas, shop from Southwestern University, where he was the assistant director of publications. Springbox has also recruited Tom Hudson as a Web developer. He will create Web sites using server-side scripting and flash, as well as produce e-mail newsletters. Hudson previously worked at Austin's Fusion Learning Systems as an engineer.
