CALIFORNIA

Cheryl Hayes rose to associate director of people services at the Y&R Cos. in Irvine. In the new post, Hayes is responsible for developing and implementing human-resources strategy and integrating those initiatives with the company's overall business objectives, among other duties. She reports to Linda Denton, senior vice president, director of people services. Hayes joined Y&R in 2001 and most recently was manager of people services.

The Phelps Group in Santa Monica hired Jennifer Almer as public relations specialist. She is responsible for public relations and promotions efforts for the city of Beverly Hills. Almer has worked with clients such as American Express, HBO, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble and Champagne Taittinger.

Elisabeth Sinow joined the Los Angeles office of direct-marketing agency Grizzard. She will serve as account supervisor on the City of Hope National Cancer Center account. Sinow reports to company vice president C. Greg Helton and president Debbi Layfield. Previously, Sinow was director of development of the Carpenter Performing Arts Center at Long Beach State University.



CONNECTICUT

Chris Hyde arrived at Adams & Knight as a senior designer. He comes to the independent agency in Avon from Bertz Design Group in Middletown, Conn., where he held a similar position.



FLORIDA

Ernie Cox was named executive creative director at Starmark International in Fort Lauderdale. He has more than two decades of experience in the advertising industry with shops such as Foote, Cone and Belding in San Francisco, DDB in New York and Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago. Cox has worked on accounts such as Sunkist, IBM, Clairol, Pfizer and Kraft.



GEORGIA

Larry Guerrero was elevated to vice president and media director at Bennett Kuhn Varner. He joined the Atlanta shop in 1997 as an account executive and most recently was associate media director. Guerrero's résumé includes stops at Turner Broadcast Systems and Ogilvy & Mather, both in Atlanta.



HAWAII

Milici Valenti Ng Pack in Honolulu hired Wendell Woodford as a senior copywriter, Eric Chan as an assistant account executive on the McDonald's of Hawaii account and Jenny Boutsady as a bookkeeper. Woodford previously was with Modem Media in San Francisco, working on the Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal and Intel accounts. Chan formerly was marketing director at H&W Foods. Boutsady previously was with National Mortgage Real Estate Corp.



ILLINOIS

Digitas promoted Torrence Boone to managing director of its Chicago office. He replaces Reuben Hendell, who is returning to the New York office to oversee business development and manage client relationships in the region. Reporting to Laura Lang, president of Digitas in New York and Chicago, Boone will run the Chicago outpost, which handles accounts such as Best Buy and Allstate. Most recently, Boone, 34, led the global healthcare, pharmaceuticals and packaged-goods practices at Digitas in Boston, overseeing the Millennium, Bayer and Gillette accounts. He will continue in that capacity as well.

BBDO appointed account supervisors on its Wrigley and Sara Lee businesses to vice president posts. Elke Anderle has been managing the Chicago office's Effie award-winning Orbit Sugarfree Gum account. Anderle, 28, joined the shop in 1997. She has worked on Wrigley brands such as Extra Polar Ice and Winterfresh. Katie Clow, 27, manages the Sara Lee Coffee & Tea account, which includes the company's Hills Bros. and Chock Full o' Nuts brands. Clow has worked on several Wrigley campaigns, including the launch of Juicy Fruit's "Gotta have sweet" series.



MASSACHUSETTS

Susan Fetter was hired by Captains of Industry in Watertown as a producer. Prior to joining the independent shop, Fetter worked for three years as a producer with Boston-based Thunder Sky Pictures. At Captains of Industry, Fetter will work on a variety of the agency's video accounts. In addition, Captains of Industry hired Sara Maglione as an account executive. Prior to joining the agency, she spent five years in account management with ISM, a travel and hospitality shop in Boston, working on American Express and Hong Kong tourism, among others.



NEW YORK

EarthQuake Media, an integrated media solutions agency in New York, appointed Jeff Giacchetti account services executive. He will spearhead EarthQuake's new-business initiatives and account-management activity in the sports category. Giacchetti joins EarthQuake from VNU Business Marketing in New York, where he developed and managed campaigns for accounts such as Reebok, Benetton, Major League Baseball, Skechers and the National Football League, among other duties.



OHIO

Justice & Young promoted Maureen "Mo" Brennan from account executive to director of client services. In her new job, Brennan, a seven-year veteran of the agency, will oversee and direct marketing programs, combining teams from the Cincinnati shop's four divisions: advertising, public relations, marketing and e-commerce. She also will continue to oversee media and radio creative.



TENNESSEE

Signature Advertising added three staffers. KenRoy Regester joined the Memphis shop as an IT solutions developer. Previously, he worked as a junior software engineer at Impulse Marketing Group in Atlanta. Danica Gibbens was named art director. She comes to Signature from the Allison Agency in Little Rock, Ark. Kevin Miller, senior copywriter, arrives at the shop from The Bombay Co. in Fort Worth, Texas, where he held the same position.



TEXAS

Krause Advertising appointed Wendi Kaplan director of production. Kaplan will manage print and collateral projects at the Dallas agency. She joins the shop from locally based Pizza Inn, where she worked as director of design and print production.

Houston-based Yaffe|Deutser hired Kelley Beirne as director of account service. Beirne is a recent graduate of the MBA program at Rice University.

Hawkeye/FFWD assigned Kate Shema to its direct marketing group as creative director. Prior to joining the Dallas agency, Shema was an associate creative director at Temerlin McClain in Irving. In addition, the shop hired David Anders and Kelly Ash as account director and account executive, respectively. Anders arrives from Rapp Collins Worldwide in Irving, where he was a management supervisor on the SBC Communications account. Ash previously worked as an account executive at Epsilon's Dallas office.
