CALIFORNIASix Flags California appointed Sue Carpenter public relations manager. Her primary duties include all public relations and publicity programs for the Valencia family theme park, such as media and community relations, new-attraction introductions, and special events for Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park. Formerly the director of sports communications for the Portland Trail Blazers, Carpenter replaces Andy Gallardo, who left the company.Active Sports Marketing Group, a marketing-services firm in La Jolla that creates programs involving event marketing, product licensing, athlete sponsorships, and online and traditional media, hired Andrea Bonner as director of business development. Bonner, 39, previously was brand director at Ground Zero in Marina del Rey and has also worked at agencies such as Wieden + Kennedy and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.FLORIDAPush added Barbara Scherer as director of strategic planning. She will oversee the Orlando shop's business-development, research, account planning and public relations departments. Scherer has more than 18 years of experience working at agencies such as Earle Palmer Brown in New York, Greenstone Roberts in Melville, N.Y., and Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago. He comes to the Atlanta shop from ITFusion, also in Atlanta, where he was co-founder and vice president of sales. Henderson has more than 18 years of experience working for companies such as Coca-Cola, DuPont, Target and Georgia-Pacific.MASSACHUSETTSWennik & Motta hired Hannah Holden as a senior recruiter, and Paula Pinheiro has come aboard as a senior account executive. Holden is responsible for staff hiring and placement, as well as overseeing the relationships between clients and new hires. Holden has served as a vice president at Havas' Arnold in Boston. Pinheiro takes charge of new-business development. She had been marketing director at the Bennett Group. Wennick & Motta in Boston places marketing and creative professionals.MICHIGANMarianne Fey was promoted from senior vice president, group account director, to executive vice president, group account director at McCann-Erickson in Detroit. Fey co-manages McCann/Jay, a subsidiary of McCann in Detroit.NEVADASchadler Kramer Group hired Ron Snyder as managing director. Snyder, 50, will oversee operations and lead the Las Vegas agency's new-business-development practice. He previously was managing director at Siegelgale in San Francisco. Executive creative director Dean Hacohen remains Goldsmith's No. 2.Howard Van Lenten, 56, associate creative director and senior copywriter at Doremus, was named senior vice president. Van Lenten joined the corporate strategy, branding and communications agency in 1997. Jeff Derringer, 31, director of studio services at the New York shop, was promoted to vice president. He joined the agency in 2000.OHIODan Goldgeier moved to Wolf Group in Cleveland as a copywriter. Prior to joining Wolf, Goldgeier, 31, was a freelance copywriter in Atlanta.OREGONDarcie Meihoff joined integrated marketing-communications firm CMD as a senior account manager. Meihoff, 34, will provide public relations services for the Portland-based agency's clients, which include Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems and Dr. Martens. She formerly was vice president and public relations director for Leopold Ketel & Partners.TEXASTocquigny Advertising, Interactive + Marketing hired Amy Sullivan as senior copywriter on its Dell Computer Corp. and Children's Advocacy Center accounts. Prior to joining the Austin shop, Sullivan worked at Shepardson, Stern + Kaminsky, D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and DDB Needham, all New York. In addition, Tocquigny added Matt Jurgemeyer as interactive art director. Jurgemeyer most recently worked as a senior designer at Austin's Meritage Technologies. The shop has also enlisted Erika Chan and Chris Sparks as account planner and interactive developer, respectively. Chan joins Tocquigny from Deloitte & Touche in Washington, where she was a consultant. Sparks most recently worked as a videographer at Mesquite-based QuakeCon.WASHINGTONCole & Weber/Red Cell in Seattle promoted Kristine Stebbins to director of client services and Dave Behn to director of agency services. The personnel appointments follow the shop's reorganization at the start of this year, which included integrating its account management and project-management functions. Stebbins, 38, joined Cole & Weber more than a year ago as senior vice president of CRM and direct marketing, while Behn, 33, has been with the shop for more than four years, most recently as interactive director. Stebbins will oversee the agency's new client-services team, which consists of advertising, direct marketing, interactive and public relations account executives. The project-management group will partner with the client-services team.
