CALIFORNIA

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners has promoted Jamie Barrett to partner. He joined the San Francisco agency in July 2001 as creative director and associate partner, working on Saturn and eBay. Barrett becomes one of eight partners at Goodby. He will have an undisclosed financial stake in the company.

Horizon Media has made several appointments in its Los Angeles office. Tanza Bove, Jason Grosz and Lakesha Breeding have been named to account executive positions, and Jason Koyama was named a radio buyer. Bove joins Horizon from Giorgio Armani Corp. in New York, where she served as advertising manager. Grosz most recently was a media planner at Dailey & Associates. Breeding previously was at PKPF Advertising in Los Angeles, where she was an account executive. Koyama most recently was a media buyer at Carat North America.

Palisades Media Group has hired Julie Gropman as a senior account executive in its Santa Monica headquarters. She will primarily be responsible for account management on the recently acquired, $50 million Virgin Mobile USA account. Gropman formerly was at The Gary Group, where for the past three years she has served as an account executive and media planner on accounts such as Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group.



CONNECTICUT

Marketing Management Analytics in Wilton has hired three directors of client services. Sheila Baker joins from ACNielsen in Norwalk, where she served as senior comprehensive service manager. Patty Zarra previously was director of client services at Information Resources in Norwalk, where she oversaw accounts for Guinness UDV, Bic and Perrier. Anna Frano comes to MMA from ACNielsen, where she formerly was client director on the company's Pepsi business. Separately, MMA has added two new account executives: Ivan Torro, who joins from Accenture; and Randi Steiner, who arrives from Information Resources. MMA is a unit of Aegis Group, parent of Carat.



FLORIDA

Starmark International in Fort Lauderdale has named Bill Berenson executive vice president, client services. Berenson has 20 years of industry experience, including 11 years as managing director and principal with San Francisco-based Landor Associates, where he managed corporate image and identity programs for clients including Intel, Hitachi and Caterpillar. Most recently, he was a partner with Toronto-based venture capital firm Tech Inspirations and its spinoff, Numbers@work.



ILLINOIS

DDB in Chicago promoted Angela Talley to senior vice president. Talley, who serves as group strategic planning director on the J.C. Penney's account, joined DDB in 1998 as a senior planner on McDonald's.



LOUISIANA

Mark Romig has been promoted to president of Peter A. Mayer Public Relations. Romig, formerly director, will oversee the development of the firm's public affairs department. He retains his title as vice president of parent Peter A. Mayer Advertising of New Orleans. Joining Romig in the new department is Quincy Crawford, who holds the title of public affairs account executive. Crawford formerly worked as director of scheduling and advance to First Lady Laura Bush in Washington and has held positions in corporate media relations at Enron Broadband Services in Houston and at the McGraw-Hill Cos. in New York.



MASSACHUSETTS

Carat Interactive has assigned chief financial officer Steve Andrews the additional post of director of operations. In the expanded role, Andrews will develop and oversee the Boston i-shop's policies and procedures and will continue to manage its financial activities. Andrews previously worked within Carat's North American organization, focusing on the integration, financial growth and operational development of various business units. Most recently, he served as CFO for Carat Freeman in Newton.



MICHIGAN

Michael Flora & Associates promoted senior account supervisor Keith Dickinson to executive director, a new position. Dickinson will be in charge of the Troy, Mich., shop's strategic and account planning for major clients, as well as new-business development. He reports directly to president Mike Flora. The shop also hired Nicole Mapp as junior art director and Shannon Karl as assistant to the controller. Previously, Mapp was a junior art director at McCann-Erickson, and Karl recently graduated from Grand Valley State University.



MINNESOTA

BBDO in Minneapolis hired Josh Simpson as new business director. Simpson was in charge of new-business development at Carmichael Lynch and also has strong planning and account-management experience.



NEW YORK

Teresa Kendregan was named publisher for Gear magazine. She formerly was senior vice president of business development at Fairchild Publications.

Georgia Franklin has been promoted to vice president, public affairs, MTV Networks International. She will develop and implement international public affairs initiatives across the brands MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, TMF and Kindernet, and will be the key international contact for MTV Networks' public affairs division in the U.S. Franklin previously was head of public affairs at MTV Networks International.

Susan Sheppard has been named vice president of business and legal affairs for Lifetime Entertainment Services in New York. Sheppard most recently was director of legal and business affairs at A&E Television Network. Lifetime Entertainment Services includes Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network and Lifetime Real Women.



NORTH CAROLINA

Peter Mitchell, Woodbine vice president and director of account development, has become a principal at the agency. Mitchell joined the Winston-Salem shop two years ago, following a stint as executive vice president and director of account management at Mullen, then Long Haymes Carr.



OKLAHOMA

Brothers & Co. has promoted John Suttee to associate creative director. Suttee, who joined the Tulsa shop in 1995, has handled both account-service and creative duties at the agency. He previously was copywriter/producer.



TEXAS

Public relations firm Michael Burns & Associates has hired Greg Smith to head its newly formed public affairs and crisis communications unit. Smith joins the Dallas company from Bustin & Co., where he served as a principal and provided strategic counseling for crisis and issues management, as well as litigation communications.

Michelle Rogers has joined Griffith Phillips Creative in Dallas as senior account executive, working on Verizon and Nortel. She previously has worked as an interactive account executive at Temerlin McClain in Irving and as an assistant account executive with Levenson & Hill in Dallas.
