BBDO wasted no time replacing departing executive creative director Jim Noble.

The Atlanta agency has promoted group creative director Bill Pauls to the ecd post.

"We need a creative talent who possesses the leadership to manage the department's growth to the next level," said agency president and chief executive officer, Chris Hall. "We realized that we already had such a person in Bill."

Pauls, who has 12 years of industry experience, joined the shop in 2000 and soon became a principal creative on the Cingular Wireless account.

Previously, Pauls was at J. Walter Thompson in San Francisco, Chicago and Atlanta, where he is credited with creating that agency's television commercials for Orkin Exterminating.

He has also worked on the U.S. Marine Corps, Nike, Maxfli, Kraft, Sprint and Kentucky Fried Chicken accounts.

"A big advantage to being promoted from within is that the transition is smooth for both clients and staff," said Pauls. "There is no learning curve."
