You think money can buy respect? Consider a new Harris Poll in which people were asked to gauge the prestige of various professions. Despite the vaunted success of American business in recent years, a mere 15 percent rated “businessman” an occupation of “very great prestige,” with 33 percent according it “considerable prestige.” Another 43 percent credited businessmen with “some prestige,” while 7 percent said they have “hardly any prestige at all.” Meanwhile, has discontent with the healthcare system undercut esteem for doctors? Not at all.
