ATLANTA Porter Novelli has named Dan Beeson senior vice president and head of media relations, according to the agency.

Beeson, who has more than 15 years of experience in journalism, politics and media relations, will begin his new role at the Atlanta shop next Monday. He specializes in media planning and placement for regional and national clients, the agency said.

Previously, Beeson was co-founder of GCI Group, also in Atlanta, where he was in charge of the media relations department.

Porter Novelli said five of the 10 employees it has hired since January have been installed in senior management positions. The new hires reflect the shop's commitment to offering outstanding expertise and valuable capabilities to its clients, according to Kathy Bremer, agency partner and general manager.

"As we grow, our talent base and capabilities are expanding to keep pace," Bremer said.

Porter Novelli's client roster includes BellSouth, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Clean Air Campaign, the Arthritis Foundation and Emory Healthcare.
